Rise of the Krays (Dir. Zachary Alder) 2015

Rise of the Krays was directed by Zachary Alder, written by Ken Brown & Sebastian Brown. The film starred Simon Cotton (Ronnie Kray), Kevin Leslie (Reggie Kray), Nicola Stapleton (Violet Kray) & James Hepburn (Charlie Richardson). The genre of this film is crime drama & it covers the theme of gangs, violence, & law.

This film is based on the Kray Twins. The sequel to this film is The Fall of the Krays, directed by the Zachary Alder.

The performance in this film was very important because the audience had to believe that Kevin Leslie & Simon Cotton were actual gangsters. Mise-en-scene was also very important because the clothing dates back to the 50s/60s where men usually wore suits all the time. The mise-en-scene takes us back in time where London was very different & the streets looked different. The lighting & cinematography also made it feel like we were back in the 50s/60s. Although this film is dark, the lighting was high key & low contrast which contradicted the film & this connected with how the Krays thought their actions were okay & they were pleased with themselves. They were on top of their game & everything was going good for them. The lighting conotes their success.
