Inglourious Basterds (Dir. Quentin Tarantino & Eli Roth) 2009 vs. Miracle at St Anna (Dir. Spike Lee) 2008

I will be comparing two films that have similarities & differences. The two films are Inglourious Basterds (Dir. Quentin Tarantino) 2009 & Miracle at St Anna (Dir. Spike Lee) 2008.

The first similarity is that they are both the same genre. This genre is war. The films are based in WWII however they are from different perspectives. Inglourious Basterds is from the perspective of the Jewish people & Miracle at St Anna is from the perspective of the black people.

A difference in the film is that in Miracle at St Anna, the characters cooperate with each other however in Inglourious Basterds, the Lt is the leader.

In Miracle of St Anna there is exposition however in Inglourious Basterds there aren’t any expositions, instead there is a gap in the timeline where the film skipped certain time periods.

Another difference is that Miracle at St Anna is based in Italy whereas Inglourious Basterds is based in France.

The use of sound in Inglourious Basterds is done particularly well, it keeps the audience engaged, the sound at times is contrapuntal which is often used by Tarantino .
