Short Term Twelve is a drama directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The themes in this film are depression, self destruction, trust, love, coming of age & guidance. The film was written by the director himself; the film stars Brie Larson (Grace), John Gallagher Jr (Mason), Kaitlyn Dever (Jayden Cole), Rami Melek (Nate), Kevin Hernandes (Luis), Melora Walters (Dr. Hendler), Stephanie Beatriz (Jessica), Lydia Du Veaux (Kendra) Alex Calloway (Sammy) Frantz Turner (Jack), Diana-Maria Riva (Nurse Beth) & Keith Stanfield (Marcus). Short Term 12 was originally a short film tat ran for 22 minutes, it was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2009 where it won the Jury Prize in filmmaking. Post graduation, the director (Cretton) turned his short film into a feature film which won the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences' five Nicholl Felloships in Screenwriting 2010. The budget of this film was less than $1 million & it received $1.6 million at the box office.
