House of a 1000 Corpses is horror movie directed by Rob
Zombie & written by Rob Zombie. The production companies that were involved
in this film were Universal Pictures & Spectacle Entertainment Group. The
film stars Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding, William Bassett as Sheriff Hank
Huston & Karen Black as Mother Firefly. The House of 1000 corpses was made
with a 7 million dollars budget & it received $16,829,545 in the box
office. The film is set in 1977. House of 1000 Corpses has been nominated for
5 awards & have won 3 awards. It has won the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards
(2004), it also came 2nd & 3rd place. House of 1000
corpses has won the Fantasporto (2004) award for best special effects & it
was nominated for the best film award & lastly, this film was nominated for
the Teen Choice Award (2003).
The key sequences in this film are during the beginning
where we find out Captain Spaulding is a murderer. Two men in masks try to rob
Captain Spaulding & he taunts one of them before killing them. This is a
key sequence because we find out that Captain Spaulding isn’t as nice as he
seems.
Another key sequence is when the 4 teenagers are driving
their car & they pick up a female hitch hiker. This is significant because
(SPOILER) the female hitch hiker is the reason why the teenagers die in the
near future. If the female hitch hiker wasn’t picked up the film would have
ended very quickly.
Another key sequence is when the 4 teenagers are driving
away from Mother Firefly’s house however they are attacked, Gerry is the first
one to be attacked & the rest were next. The females were left till last
however.
The last key sequence is when we see Denise escape &
this gives hope for the audience however she hitch hikes into Captain Spaulding’s
car & says she needs to see a doctor however she does not know that “Doctor
Satan” is at the back of the car. This ending hints to the audience that there
would be a sequel to the film.
