BFI Film Festival Trips
Wednesday 7th October 2015
On the 7th October 2015, AS Film & A2 Media went on a trip to the BFI (British Film Institute) to watch 6 short films. The cinema we watched the films in is an Arthouse cinema. Arthouse cinema's don't tend to sell food & the BFI did not sell food there. The seats were also very comfortable compared to the Cineworld cinema. Whilst I was sitting down, I noticed that some of the seats had names on the back of them, two of the names I could see were Feliks Topolski & Caryl Topolski. Feliks was an expressionist painter & a draughtsman. Caryl was his second wife. It's very unusual to see names behind the seats in the cinema. Feliks & Caryl must have been significant to the BFI. There were other names but I couldn't see them.

On this trip, we went to watch the film Ayanda (Dir. Sara Blecher) 2015. Ayanda is a romantic drama & it covers the themes of family struggles, work & relationships. We watched Ayanda in Cineworld, Haymarket. Cineworld is a multiplex cinema as it has multiple screens, they also sold a lot of popcorn & food in Cineworld. Cineworld was nicely decorated, different from the BFI. The lighting in Cineworld was not as good as it was in the BFI. In the screen room, the BFI had many bright lights on the ceiling however Cineworld had two chandeliers on each half of the room & it was not very good lighting.
